Wouldn't this imply that Mercado Libre is going for Shopee's Customers in Brazil and push them into a price war, which would eventually lead to Shopee being unprofitable in their biggest market again? How do you access the magnitude and probability of this risk? (I own both)
Brazil is not Shopees largest market, it’s still majority Southeast Asia. I own both so I can’t lose here but competition always brings the best out in companies so I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
$6 billion in a year is monumental!
Wall Street analysts are truly morons. They do enough research into the business. "GrOsS MArgIN DoWN 2% BaD, me SaD, LoW PrICe TarGEt Now :("
I am surprised Amazon is so complacent, they should be the ones leading the price war. Could they be even considering leaving Brazil?
Amazon is such a large business that emerging markets were never really the priority and that shows in its market share in Brazil.
